For indirect SSH access to home, you can rent a VPS server and have it behave as proxy for your home station. First off, you must start a reverse SSH tunnel from the home machine to the VPS.

home$ ssh -N -R 2222:localhost:22 user@remote.machine 

flags:

-N | do not drop me into a shell
-R 2222:localhost:22 | tunnel local 22 to remote's 2222

Now you can ssh into your VPS from, say, your work laptop and then further ssh into your home machine.
